Elmhurst is a private, four-year college. The curriculum combines liberal learning and professional preparation to equip students for lifelong learning, service and achievement.
My responsibilities at Elmhurst centered around assisting students, faculty, and staff in using the library’s technology resources. I was in charge of maintaining the library’s website and providing additional content as needed. I kept abreast of technology trends as they related to academic libraries. I managed the library’s general IT needs which included updating and maintaining Student and Staff library computers. I determined the optimal versions, programs, and editions to run as well as offered ongoing troubleshooting of issues. I regularly researched free or low cost presentation tools and conducted presentations with faculty, staff, and students to showcase these technologies. I provided reference/research assistance to library patrons and served as Library Liaison to Elmhurst College Office of Information Services. Additionally, I created singular function stations (scanning, library catalog search, etc) using fully depreciated computers to expand the availability of newer computers and spearheaded a project to acquire and setup dual boot Mac Mini Computers in the library. I also helped manage Interns and Student Workers on technology projects.
